INSTALLING AUTO XPERTS

 

Before installing Auto Xperts, all files and applications must be closed to insure proper installation. If you are going to install onto the Network you must install on the C:\Drive before installing onto the Network. 

 

There are two ways to install Auto Xperts: via CD ROM and 31/2” floppy disk. 

 

Install Using Floppy Diskette:

 

1.  From the main Windows menu, click on the Start button.

2.  Click Run and type in the file name A:\Setup.exe

3.  Place diskette #1 in the A:\ Drive and click OK.  At first Windows will prompt you to change to the particular Drive you want the program loaded on to. If it is already set for the C:\  Drive then click OK.

4.  Windows will prompt you to enter diskettes #2 through #10.

5.  Your Auto Xperts program will now be loaded.

 

Install Using CD ROM:

 

1.  Insert the Auto Xperts CD into your CD ROM drive.

2.  From the main Windows menu, click the Start button.

3.  Click on Run and type in the file name D:\Setup.exe where D: is your CD ROM drive and then click OK. At first Windows will prompt you to change to the particular Drive you want the program loaded onto. If it is already set for the C:\  Drive then click OK.

4.  Follow the instructions and the program will be successfully installed.

 

After you have successfully loaded Auto Xperts, remove all diskettes and/or CD ROM. 

 

Double-click on the Auto Xperts Icon, and follow through the SUPERVISOR MASTER FILE AND LICENSE to insure access.

 

 

SUPERVISOR MASTER FILE

 

This function will allow the system supervisor to log into Auto Xperts to clear errors, add users, change passwords, etc.

 

To enter into the Supervisor Master File:

 

From the main menu in the Auto Xperts screen, the system supervisor must enter the User ID as SUPERVISOR and the Password as MASTER (displayed as ****** below). This is the only way anyone can obtain the following information in this section of the manual. (See Figure 1)

 


NOTE:

    The password must be in CAPITAL LETTERS. (CASE SENSITIVE)

LICENSE

The License screen will appear blank after installing.  The access codes can be found on Page 28.  If the License screen did not appear, follow the following procedure.

(License was developed for security reasons.  It will allow you to have access to each module that you purchase.)

 

To view and enter License Code(s):

 

1.  From the main menu click FILE, then UTILITIES.  The following pop-down menu will appear;

2.  Click LICENSE and the following screen will appear;

3.  You will now have access to enter the License Code, which will give you access to that particular module.  (The license code may be entered by your system administrator).

 

4.  Click Exit then click Menu () and the main menu will appear;

 

 

The Dealer File:1 screen will appear after entering the License codes.  This screen is used to enter all the necessary information about the (company) dealer.

 

To enter information:

 

Main:

     Allows you to enter the company’s name, address, telephone and fax numbers as well as e-mail address and language preference.  The information entered on this screen will appear on the Main Menu. If any information is entered incorrectly you may click on Tables, Dealer File:1 and you will be allowed to make changes. However it will only be active after you logout and log back into the system. Only the Company’s information can be added into the following: Retention, Personnel I, Personnel II, Defaults I, Defaults II, Defaults III,  Tax and Options applets.  Click on each applet and fill in the necessary information.  If more information is required it can be found in the Tables manual.

 

Dealership Code:  Figure 4

    This Code is used for multiple programs within the same company example: (00000) and (00001)

    The dealership code can only be entered or modified the first time the program is installed.

 

NOTE: The dealership code cannot be changed after installation.
